The Asiatic elephant "Barbara", pictured above, is the one I remember best from childhood visits to Chessington in the 1950s/60s.

I don't know the exact date, but I believe there were still elephants at Chessington until 1990.

EDIT: After some googling, I can confirm that there were three Asiatic elephants at Chessington Zoo in 1990:-

• "Marjorie" died on 26th January 1990 (after living at Chessington since 1969)
• "Bella" died on 30th May 1990 (after living at Chessington since 1970)
• "Maya" spent a few months at Chessington in 1990 before being sent to Chester
