With two middle-aged female Asian elephants (37 and 45 years of age) this zoo has 4 years to come up with a solution in regards to the AZA requirement of 3 elephants on a minimum amount of space. Baton Rouge has a badly outdated exhibit that is totally inappropriate in today's world, and yet the zoo is going ahead with updates to the enclosure (but only for the visitors):
