What a strange fish! It is not on ZooTierListe. I had never seen or heard of it before, but it is apparently widespread in southern latitudes.
I did not see it on my first visit, because it is mainly nocturnal and sleeps buried in the sand. But on the following day it was very active indeed in its dimly lit tank. I took a lot of photos as I was struggling to focus.
