Bear ID

This was in a large exhibit labeled black bear exhibit with many American Black bears but this one is the only one with neck patches like Asian Black Bears or Sloth bears.

Looks like an American black bear to me.

@amur leopard yes but it has the neck patches that aren’t found on American Black Bears.

@Westcoastperson Some American Black Bears have the patch.

@amur leopard Bearizona in their large Black Bear drive through exhibit. The zoo prides itself on North American species with only a few ambassador animals being the exception.
@red river hog I had no idea, it was the only bear with the patch so whatever it was it wasn’t bread at the facility. It could just be a random American Black Bear with the patch though.

Some American black bears have patches like that.
