Beaver and otter signage, Kushiro Zoo

What’s your opinion on the handmade signage? Do they seem tacky and unprofessional or charming and whimsical. Emphasis on seen since I assume you didn’t use a translator app during your visit.

@PossumRoach a bit of both. From a Western perspective most would probably consider them poor signage, but from a Japanese perspective I suspect they would seem great. The zoo seems to be mainly aimed at children as well.

I for one find them charming, you can tell the staff put a lot of thought and effort into it. But yeah it is definitely a bit dated.
