Good grief! This place looks as bad as anywhere on this tour (so far!). What possible excuse can the be for keeping binturongs (or anything, really) in a cage as impoverished as this?

Sharkarosa is a rather dire place (an old farm turned into a haphazard zoo) and there are two binturongs in this tiny metal cage that everyone passes as it is directly next to the entrance. How this borderline roadside zoo managed to accumulate 5 lemur species and binturongs is bizarre, but at least the zoo is aware of its shortcomings and new exhibits for the above mentioned animals are part of the zoo's future.
in usa many exotic animals are readily available on line from private breeders and at exotic animal auctions. There are probably more ringtail lemurs in usa private breeders and facilities collections than wild specimens in madagascar.
