Currently houses 2 species of birds. This enclosure is located just after the Aussie Walkabout exit. Did the black jaguar used to be kept in here?

I do like this aviary, a nice big aviary for a pair of cockatoos. There is another photo on here showing macaws in here in the 70s or 80s.

The leopards and jaguars were kept, at least the most recent ones, in relatively small, thich-barred cages. These most recently held the Asiatic golden cat, before being demolished for the new otter enclosures. I don't know for sure that this was where the black jag lived however, but it probably was.

this aviary was empty when I was there last week, and the sign had been removed

Oh! I wonder what this means. I'm somewhat concerned now, hopefully its just for routine maintenance. There is nothing on the AZ website about it.

Incidentally, AZ are phasing out all there pheasants, including the Himalayan Monal that were in this aviary. Did you see any on your visit? There are normally Reeves' with the lovebirds and anothe species further up with the parrots.

I saw a male Lady Amherst's in with....the African grey parrot? One of those aviaries anyway.

The lovebird aviary had Swinhoe's pheasant labelled but I didn't see any. I saw no monals either nor signage for them.
