Is everything painted white and/or grey? It looks like a dentist's office! I know of several zoo enthusiasts who adore the new Bird House at Berlin Zoo, including the lush walk-through aviaries, but many of the photos showcase a cold, clinical visitor section with no frills whatsoever. Interesting architectural decisions abound at this zoo, although of course the animal collection is immense.
I do not really mind the clinical looks of the visitor section, I actually quite like these rather sober designs. However what I strongly dislike about this house is the insane amount of small aviaries and the lack of larger aviaries and the emptyness of many aviaries. The visitors part of the building is so large, but the enclosures relatively small. If you see how well the free flight parts are done, I completely do not understand why the rest of the building should look like the 70ies...
