Fingers crossed. They're a species I first saw at Philadelphia back in 2014, but these new animals at Bronx were my first real good look and photo opportunity for them. They're a lot larger than one might expect for an elephant-shrew and a very nice addition to the zoo's collection.

I was shocked at the size of them when I saw them at Antwerp! Prior to that I had only seen Short-eared Elephant Shrews so I was expecting something more like that. (though I have since seen a further two Elephant Shrew taxa)
