The B&W ruffed lemur CMP was completed in August this year and below are two quotes from it, regarding future exhibits at Melbourne Zoo:
plan stages for new complex due for completion in Spring 2012. Plans to hold up to 20 lemurs, spaces to be mixed between ring-tails and ruffed depending on regional needs. Multiple exhibits and holding planned to maximise flexibility.
MZ plans new holding for BWR and RT Lemurs. MZ keen to ensure that housing provides flexibility for management of breeding, single-sexed
groups as required by region/institution.
It never ceases to amaze me the effort that has to be put in Down Under just to keep things like Ring-tailed Lemurs, Black-and-White Ruffed Lemurs and Asian Short-clawed Otters ticking over - real staple zoo animals here.
But at least there are people willing to put the effort in.
