Black-backed Jackals at Hamerton 05/04/10

Cool looking animals. I wonder why jackals are generally not exhibit in the United States? (In fact, I have never seen a jackal in my life).

They're unusual in Europe as well. I've a chance of going back to Arnhem later in the year - I'm really keen because it'll finally give me a chance of seeing Golden Jackals, which have long eluded me.

These guys are little stars, though UK zoos seem to like to display them in ways that prevent you getting too good a view...
