This is a contender for worst black bear exhibit in North America. Ugly grey walls that resemble a prison surrounding a concrete pit, hideously landscaped rocks, an incredibly "ghastly" pair of grey walls splitting a dry moat, and a small set of iron bars that lead into what is surely a horrible little den. Wow. I wonder if the bear can cross its entire existence in 10 seconds or less. It will probably live in this cement joke until it eventually dies of boredom.
I completely agree with everything you say. The 10 second time frame is probably an exaggeration. I could cross the whole thing in 3 seconds The saddest thing here is the sign saying that this bear was rescued from a private owner who evidently had it in worse conditions. This BTW is the very first exhibit you see at the zoo, so it's no wonder I am so harsh on it. If I had perhaps come to their giraffe exhibit first I might have been more lenient, but alas, no.
The really sad thing is that it wouldn't take much effort to add some more logs and rocks, or even a dead tree stump, to improve it slightly. The pool looks like crap too.
No, when I visited this zoo this past summer the bear was gone. I actually liked this zoo a LOT more than the first time I visited. There are a few rarities here that I missed the first time like Bay Duikers. Without the bear this becomes a decent AZA zoo.
- This exhibit may have natural substrate but the bear cannot walk ten seconds without hitting a concrete wall. Also the bear cannot lookout on the world around it. An average bear exhibit should be at least 15 times the size. Can you please explain what u mean when you use the word "clean"?

What do I mean by clean, I mean that the exhibit just seems run down and not well taken care of, and it dosnt look all that sanitary so, they should just sanitize it to make it a healthier environment for the bears
