Moebelle 18 Feb 2013 Yes it is Theristicus caudatus, I confused it with a Black-faced Ibis but a black-faced has the red streak behind its eye.

Maguari 18 Feb 2013 I would say this is a Black-faced Ibis (T. melanopis). The easiest way I find to tell them apart is to look at how the colours change as you move from the head to the belly: In Black-faced, the head feathers are buff, then there is a thin grey band, then more buff before the black/dark grey belly feathers: http://www.zoochat.com/192/black-faced-ibis-blackbrook-22-04-a-268725/ In Buff-necked, it goes straight from buff to black, and the black starts much further forward: http://www.zoochat.com/192/buff-necked-ibis-blackbrook-21-10-a-295098/

ThylacineAlive 18 Feb 2013 I would agree that this bird looks a lot more like the Black-Faced Ibis than the Buff-Necked Ibis. ~Thylo
