Black-Footed Cat Exhibit

Judging from a 1995 map that I have of this zoo (called Chaffee Zoological Gardens of Fresno) this exhibit used to house "leopards". What species? It seems awfully small for any kind of leopard, but then again the accommodation for most of the animals during this time period (elephants, rhinos, hippos, orangutans, gorillas, chimpanzees, grizzly bears, lions, tigers, etc) was awful. This zoo had quite the marquee lineup of megafauna in the mid-1990's and to this day there are still some hugely popular animals in mainly newer enclosures.

This cage had a melanistic leopard. Not sure if it was an Asian or an African. They just a had a generic leopard sign for it.
