I think the zoo is down to their last pair, so I don't think they will be here much longer unfortunatly.

They probably wont be anywhere much longer.

You seem to be very well informed when it comes to captive Callitrichids. Can I ask if you know why the species never flourished outside of Brazil (compared to GHLT and GLT)?

Is the species intended to be phased out?

Doesn't Bristol still have a pair??

In Europe, they are kept at Chester (albeit offshow), Bristol, Belfast, Jersey, Lisbon, La Palmyre and Madgeburg.

I don't know why it hasn't done as well as the other captive populations, but as the number of individuals remains low I suspect they have not been as easy to breed as the other lion tamarins. I can't imagine it being phased out until all has been tried with the remaining individuals, but the future in captivity doesn't look very bright for this species.
