Black mimic tang

this is the black mimic tang (Acanthurus pyroferus) - it has various common names, mostly to do with the colour (black, chocolate, etc). It does not mimic the halfmoon angelfish (Pomacanthus maculosus).

Oh, this is a Half Black mimic tang. Red stripe mimic and Lemon mimic tang are the other one.

If I understand right this species is also called Chocolate or Black tang but why should a tang mimic an Angelfish ???

the juveniles mimic various species of dwarf angelfish (the exact species depends on the location - it is very interesting). I don't think there's any firm explanation for why?
