Black rhino cow

I was about to refer to her as the region’s most successful breeding female, but see her four calves are equaled by her mother. A productive line nonetheless, with her daughter now on her second calf!

@Zoofan15 I would have thought the same, excellent to have all three females contributing to the breeding program.

According to the keepers, Bakhita is the most genetically valuable rhino in the world, so it is hoped that she will be able to breed again - which would result in her eclipsing Kalungwizi's record.

@Abbey She’s only 22 years old, so there’s definitely still time. She last had a calf in 2021, so that’s stands her in good stead for conceiving anytime from now (if she isn’t already pregnant). I’ve long hoped for a pairing with Induna as he’s unrelated and the offspring of two founders (one wild born).
