Black-throated Barbet

Taken from the camp I stayed in, near Arusha and Mt Meru, Tanzania

This may be a bit difficult because of the fairly well-hidden bird but it is in the centre of the picture side-on, facing to the right.
(The bird might actually be obvious within the picture but when I was looking through my photos it took me 30 seconds to realise that there was a bird in this picture :o)

I haven't got time to look it up, but it isn't a White-browed Sparrow-weaver. The bird in your photo appears to have a black throat and white on the back, and the bill is way too large.

Oh, ok. I respect your opinion so will have another look at what bird it is

It's a Barbet of some kind. Best guess (considering what we can see) is Black-throated Barbet.
