Black water monitor (Varanus salvator macromaculatus) - Synonym V. s. 'komaini'

Indonesian collectors seems to be in either quite a denial or genuinely unknowing that the so-called subspecies "varanus salvator komaini" are just a melanistic variant of V. s. macromaculatus. All collections I knew still label their "black dragon" monitors as komaini.

@Rizz Carlton I thought komaini is a junior synonym to macromaculatus, and all supposed komaini monitors are melanistic macromaculatus

@Fargusno that's what I was saying. Komaini monitor are just a melanistic variant of macromaculatus specifically found in the Thai-Malaysia border region.
