This is an awesome picture of a truly fascinating rarity! Do you happen to have any more? I also really would love some more info on how the animal was doing and the exhibit it’s housed in - I’ve heard about Sendai’s world record chase for blue shark captive duration, but there’s not too much info out there. Thanks!

@Local_Shark
Thank you so much! I’ve only developed this one photo so far. Sadly, the shark passed away in April on its 503rd day in captivity, which was the second-longest record. The aquarium no longer keeps blue sharks. It was housed in a cylindrical tank holding 71 tons of water.

@Veno That’s sad to hear, do they have no intent at all on ever continuing the project? And will there be any published research from their work?

@Local_Shark
Sorry for the late reply. The aquarium does have some intent to try keeping blue sharks again. As for publications, I haven’t seen any coming from their work.
