Bobcat Exhibit

April 28th, 2012.
It is interesting to note that the trio of enclosures in Cat Country (lynx, bobcat and cougar) were all constructed 25 years ago (1987). Amazingly the exhibits still hold up quite well and are still easily amongst the best of their kind a quarter of a century later. The only real flaw is that it is impossible for visitors to get close to the cats, as many zoos have adopted glass viewing windows as a way to create interaction between humans and captive wildlife. At Northwest Trek it is also difficult to locate the cats, and there is a distinct feeling of being enclosed by woods as one attempts to find any of the mammals at the park.
