Never seen one with yellow markings like that. I thought they were always solid black.

I'm hoping that this species will be in the LA Zoo's new LAIR (reptile house).

And I've never seen one with yellow markings either - I thought they were always black with white markings.

I don't think it's a secret that Bongorob and I saw one of the specimens held off show at Chester, on our ZooChat tour. That one had yellow markings. The three I saw on display at Regents Park also had yellow markings. Got to be in my top 10, if not top 5, species of snake I have seen. Stunning photograph

There appears to be a link between UV exposure and deeper intense UV colouration. BUt there may also be some geographical link as well.

Chester has now put two specimens on display. I haven't managed a decent photo yet because the most spectacular feature is the iridescent sheen on the black scales of the body.

We have 4.4 (hopefully more will be added) at London now and it's a species we hope to learn a lot about in the years to come.
