This is a blesbok, distinguishable from the bontebok by the broken blaze on the face and less white on the rump and lower legs, the duller, yellowish-brown coat instead of the shinier and darker, purplish coat of the bontebok, and the longer, taller horns. Bontebok have been maintained exclusively within the AZA and its partner facilities, while blesbok were phased out into the private sector where they are now quite common.
