Bornean Pygmy Elephants - Kinabatangan

It's worth pointing out that in the very top left corner of this picture you can just see an oil palm tree which is the edge of the forest of this section of the Kinabatangan and the oil palm plantations which go on for miles.

The Kinabatangan River has around a dozen patches of forest along the river, the larger of which still hold megafauna including elephants. But the forest overall is highly fragmented and in many places only a narrow strip along the sides of the river.
