Borneo Python Eel (Macrognathus kris)

Taken on 3rd October 2024 in the Mekong River. Looking up this species was a bit of a treat since it's quite a new species in the fish trade.
@LeMandaiEnthusiast‧ this is Macrognathus kris, not M. circumcinctus :) Labelled wrongly yet again, sad that it's always the fish that suffers this fate.

Macrognathus circumcinctus is a dainty little spiny eel, and is one of several species labelled as "Borneo Python Eel" when exported, including M. kris and some other species such as M. maculatus. Plus, M. circumcintus is not rare or new to the aquarium trade, I'm not sure about countries outside of Asia but they are a fairly cheap and commonly offered species at least within Asia.

Though I see this is a win actually, M. kris is a fairly new species (described as recently as 2020) and you are right in that these are relatively new to the aquarium trade.

Is it possible that the mini exhibits/aquariums near the Mekong River section could be an Indonesian local fish section?

@Fargusno afaik the four mini tanks currently have:
1. Glowlight Danio & Lambchop Rasbora
2. Boeseman's Rainbowfish, Harlequin Rasbora & Red Rainbowfish
3. Borneo Python Eel, Denison Barb, Dwarf Botia & Tiger Hillstream Loach
4. Asian Swamp Eel

so mostly fish found around the Mekong
