Bridled Philippine spotted deer

Rusa alfredi

All four deer were out exploring their new woodchip-covered paddock.

Presumably he was handraised/handtame to be wearing a head collar like that- but for what purpose?

Are these still mixed with the Warty Pigs or have they given that up now?

The pigs and deer were separated today, but the damage to the paddock has already been done. Although I have no photos of it, the entire paddock has been covered with wood-chip and now the only grass is growing among several piles of branches dotted around the paddock, which one of the female deer was trying to feed on.

Its a pity they mixed them so the pigs ruined the paddock. Bad decision IMO. Now the deer are totally deprived of grazing.:(

Never seen a head-collar on a species of wild deer before.
Does anyone know why this animal is wearing it ?
Hand-reared male deer are usually very aggressive and dangerous!

If he's handreared (I can't imagine him wearing this if he isn't) perhaps they use it to tie him up or otherwise restrain him so he doesn't pester keepers(or worse, attack them) when they are working around them.

P
He's being de-sensitised to headcollars for some upcoming routine veterinary treatment
