Bronx Zoo- Himalayan Highlands- Glass-fronted Exhibit

February 23rd, 2012

Does anyone know what this exhibit is for as of now and what it was originally built for? I recall taking a picture of a pheasant (I believe it was a white-eared) up against the glass of the exhibit in April of 2010, but on this visit I was unsure if it was part of the snow leopard exhibit.

There are three separate snowleopard exhibits. The intention was that, since they can be difficult to spot, by having three together visitors stood a good chance of having at least one great view.

I'm not trying to sound rude, here, but then why was there a pheasant in there that day? (sometime in April 2010, if that helps)

The pheasant might have been next door in the exhibit with the ibex skull. That exhibit now has a Trapogan in it.

Not rude at all but I cannot know. Perhaps today they alternate species. There was a pheasant exhibit in that same "cave" to the left of this if I recall correctly.
