Now this is a bear exhibit! I was just emailing a friend the other day who is crazy about zoos and I typed up a paragraph declaring that the most underrated zoo nation in the world could possibly be France. Everyone knows all about the mega zoos of the United States and Germany, with the great Dutch zoos not far behind...but France seems to have a number of high-profile zoos that don't always get the acclaim that they perhaps deserve. In Anthony Sheridan's new book "What Zoos Can Do" there are 7 French zoos that made the cut of the 80 establishments in the book, and Beauval in particular seems to be a splendid facility from the reviews and photos that I've seen. The photos of La Fleche are a great addition to the ZooChat gallery and I'd love to take a road trip through France in my lifetime.
