I'm not 100% positive, but I believe that the Bronx Zoo has both the Blue Eared-Pheasant and the Brown Eared-Pheasant. My experience with both species is very limited. The Blue Eared-Pheasant is generally more common in captivity in the U.S. than the Brown Eared, and I believe that this might be the less common Brown Eared-Pheasant based on the wing and back coloration (both species often have a bluish tint to the neck feathers).
@evilmonkey239 Thank you for explaining that. Maybe it was a Blue Eared-Pheasant because the two species are so similar. My guess is that the zoo switched out pheasants recently and didn't change the signage. If Blue Eared-Pheasant was the only species that was signed, then you made the correct decision to label your photo after the signage!
