Brush Tail Possum

Found this fella pinching my chook feed. The drum is half full of sprouted wheat he was eating.

Nope he just froze like that. I started taking pictures further away as I thought he would run off. That was the 3rd photo and he was still there when I left. That photo is not cropped or even zoomed with the camera. The camera was in his face, mabe the flash had stunned him. I often see up to 3 each night locking up the chooks. They usually run up trees, but not very high as I can often touch them as I walk past.

On the thumbnail it looks like he's hatching out of an egg!

Do you kill or scare them away, or just leave them be?

Just leave them. If they are close as I walk past I pat them. Got to be quick though as they dont like it.

I went outside my house the other night to spotlight for a southern boo book owl, and this critter at shoulder height gave me the fright of my life. Also, has anyone heard their booming nocturnal noises? Freaky.

Only time I hear the boom is when they are running across my roof, and it is the feet making the noise then.

I just put up a photo of a Boobook I saw the other night.
