Nope he just froze like that. I started taking pictures further away as I thought he would run off. That was the 3rd photo and he was still there when I left. That photo is not cropped or even zoomed with the camera. The camera was in his face, mabe the flash had stunned him. I often see up to 3 each night locking up the chooks. They usually run up trees, but not very high as I can often touch them as I walk past.
I went outside my house the other night to spotlight for a southern boo book owl, and this critter at shoulder height gave me the fright of my life. Also, has anyone heard their booming nocturnal noises? Freaky.
