Bull Snake

All of the snake terrariums at this zoo appear to have a small carpet as flooring material. Is it actually some kind of fiber or are the photos misleading? Also, the exhibit in this photo seems to be extremely tiny for a bull snake.

Yes, it was just carpeting from what I could tell being used for the terrariums flooring. This terrarium is exceptionally small for its occupant compared to the others. This snake looped its exhibit at least three times when I was in the entrance building. Most the other snakes are relatively small so their terrariums were ok, it just wasn't for this one.

Isn't that the case for the majority of reptile exhibits in North America?

I would agree with that statement, as I've visited loads of Reptile Houses where quite often the slithery inhabitants are actually longer than the terrariums that they are found in.
