All of the snake terrariums at this zoo appear to have a small carpet as flooring material. Is it actually some kind of fiber or are the photos misleading? Also, the exhibit in this photo seems to be extremely tiny for a bull snake.

Yes, it was just carpeting from what I could tell being used for the terrariums flooring. This terrarium is exceptionally small for its occupant compared to the others. This snake looped its exhibit at least three times when I was in the entrance building. Most the other snakes are relatively small so their terrariums were ok, it just wasn't for this one.
I would agree with that statement, as I've visited loads of Reptile Houses where quite often the slithery inhabitants are actually longer than the terrariums that they are found in.
