Burgers Zoo - Elephant exhibit

Part of the forest exhibit for Asian elephants in Burgers Zoo. I like this exhibit very much, especially due to the use of elevation and live trees.

Good to see Asian elephants exhibited in a forest setting, this is after all their natural habitat, not open paddocks.
The exhibit seems to just disappear into the forest, really well done.

Is this photo an illusion? There seems to be a drop-off and a separation between the elephant paddock and the main part of the forest.

The elephants does not have access to the very dense forest. If that was the case you know that it would not be dense very long The exhibit is bigger than this of course and creates the illusion of a small clearing in the dense forest on a hillside.
