Butterfly barb

Okapi House, Chester, 19th February 2017
Enteromius hulstaerti, one of the smallest of the barbs and a delicate species. The specimens on show are still young and are less than 2 cm long. They should become more colourful as they mature. The elephant nose fishes that previously live in this tank are no longer on show and so these barbs live with similarly sized lampeyes (labelled Aplocheilichthys normani, which may be correct). The tank is planted with Bolbitis and Anubias growing on wood, which is a nice African combination.
