The spectacular Butterfly House at the Texas Discovery Gardens is apparently 7,000 sq. ft. in size while the Butterfly House in Chesterfield, Missouri, (a suburb of St. Louis) is a little larger at 8,000 sq. ft. in size. There are several other giant butterfly pavilions scattered throughout the United States but I'm not sure if any are AZA-accredited besides the one in Missouri on the link below. Who would have imagined that there are such butterfly behemoths amongst us?
This was originally built as a tropical plant display house, and annual butterfly display was initiated before it became a permanent feature and the focus of the space.
