Wellington Zoo''s phychotic camel , Cairo, was raised by hand and apparently is a little confused over what camel things he should do and when.
He "blows bubbles", which is actually puffing up his "dulaa" a bladder used in the threat display by male camels, and is not his tongue. He does this when he is tense or upset.
Quietly talking to Cairo and calling him by name does work well to calm him dowm.
Oh yes, he has very bad breath too !
I suspect he is just misunderstood.
Update: he has since passed away.
