This is the new 2008 facility for this natural history museum in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. It features the Steinhart Aquarium, Osher Rain Forest, and Morrison Planetarium. Also of interest to ZooChat viewers is the African Penguin exhibit. This is the green roof with skylights illimunating the Osher Rain Forest dome in the foreground and the Morrison Planetarium dome in the background.

Without your explanation! The theories we could have come up with :D about what this picture shows.

I was immediatley thinking warlocks from "the time machine"

The picture of course only shows part of it. The two hills (I always think Hobbits, too!) are set in a larger flat area of green roof. It is weird and very :cool: up there. The picture was taken from the public viewing area (visitors are not allowed on the roof itself). It's one of the most unusual landscapes I know (I like it)

The architect of the building, including the roof shown here, is Renzo Piano, recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize. He's a big deal and this building has been receiving high praise for its green credentials. His addition to the Chicago Art Institute just opened. For you Australians, he designed the Aurora Place in Sydney.

Sadly, all his Studio's buildings resemble each other.
