Also known as CALM, located in Bakersfield, CA. Rather out-of-the-way, this little zoo/botanical garden/museum only displays flora and fauna native to California. Small, and for the most part unimpressive exhibits, this facility has been on my to see list for about the last 1 1/2 years. My wife and I thought this Memorial Day weekend would be the best time to pay a visit. And with temperatures only in the mid 60s, as compared to over 95 - 100 degrees in the next few weeks; even more so.
