It looks like the bull wheel that\'ll drive the entire system will be placed up top. Guests will follow the path up and board on the right and disembark on the left. The concrete structure on the left appears as if it\'ll be a control room.

The $70 million project has finally begun...was there any information about a proposed timeline? I know that the expensive complex took a while to gather steam and be approved.

Ground broke a while back, but this is the first concrete evidence that construction is indeed underway.


No timeline listed on zoo grounds, but the website indicates that the gondola system is to be completed by Spring 2017, with the entire complex due to open Summer 2018. Construction is proceeding on all aspects of the project, but the gondola system is receiving the bulk of the attention.

For such a massive undertaking, I would like to see the plebes get a chance to contribute by buying commemorative bricks or something rather than chasing high-priced naming rights.

I still hope that the Main Zoo doesn't get neglected, because there's a lot of work to be done there.
