Are there still Cape Buffalo at the zoo? Is their future uncertain or will they remain in Tulsa?

Yes, there are still Cape buffalo at the Tulsa Zoo, although they may not be on exhibit now due to construction on a new Rhino barn and habitat in this part of the zoo. If I am interpreting the the TZ's 20-year Master Plan correctly, it appears to show the buffalo paddock remaining more or less as it is.

Actually I looked at the detail map for the African Plains section of the Master Plan again and see that the area where the African buffalo has been is planned to be incorporated into the Rhino exhibit. (I've placed a copy of that diagram as an attachment to this post).

The zoo recently reported that at 32.5 yrs old its Cape buffalo "Wheezy" (they may only have one now) had become the oldest Cape buffalo in captivity. I'm just speculating, but it may be the plan that she stays in the current area until she dies and then that paddock will become part of the Rhino area.
