Paracheirodon axelrodi

The funny thing about all species of Paracheirodon is that they just keep getting better looking the more you have.

Actually, although I'd have sworn this tank had Cardinals, looking at the full-size image I think they're actually Neon Tetras, P. innesi.

Good call!
Spectacular tank design, but far too tricksy for my taste. That spiral of Anubias bears no relationship to anything natural - and it's an African species too. The tank is nice and deep, if it's big enough laterally I'd much prefer to see one or two nice big Amazon swords and some altum angelfish.

It's a cylindrical tank with not much more width than you can see here - it's the centrepiece of one of the rooms of the aquarium and as you suggest, is almost more a living artwork than anything else!

I checked the full size image since you said that. Its hard to tell actually but it looks like a mix. There's a definite cardinal up near the top but most of the rest look like neons. I had been thinking it would have cost a lot to fill it with cardinals so it makes more sense if they're mostly neons (easy to breed unlike cardinals)

That would make a lot of sense, actually - would explain why I'd registered cardinals at the time but am now seeing neons!
