TeaLovingDave 19 Sep 2021 @Hix Not sure that this has been identified correctly? It doesn't look much - if anything - like the example photographs over on Birds of the World. What do you think, @Chlidonias ?

Chlidonias 19 Sep 2021 @TeaLovingDave it's a Cardinal Woodpecker. There is another photo with male and female together (also titled as Green-backed) here: Green-backed Woodpecker - ZooChat

TeaLovingDave 19 Sep 2021 @Chlidonias Cheers - I had wondered if these two shots were Cardinal, but wasn't sure as the plumage didn't look terribly yellow. A species we needed for the photographic thread, so a win either way!

Chlidonias 19 Sep 2021 @TeaLovingDave the colouration is better in the other photo - it's probably to do with lighting or shadow - but from photos online there seems to be some variation in how yellow to brownish the birds are. It might be geographical or individual.
