This gorgeous tank is set in a brightly lit rotunda and it is just off of the main entrance and foyer of the aquarium. The room originally held a "swamp scene" tropical pool that was 40-feet in length, and it wasn't until 1971 that the Caribbean Reef exhibit opened. Its 90,000 gallon tank was one of America's first multispecies exhibits, and the rotunda and dome were renovated and substantially brightened in 1999. I know that many ZooChatters have used this tank as a meeting place as it is fairly centrally located within Shedd's cavernous hallways.
