Lee Richardson Zoo certainly has a lot of popular mammals in its collection: African elephants, black rhinos, tapirs, giraffes, various antelope, lions, jaguars, cougars, bobcats, sloth bears, etc. For a zoo with only 180,000 annual visitors there is certainly a lot of high-profile species on display and how long would an average visit take?
The state of Kansas has close to 20 different zoos of one type or another but many of them are fairly small and nondescript. I've visited Sedgwick County (excellent!), Topeka, Sunset and Rolling Hills and this August I hope to tour David Traylor, Lee Richardson, Hutchinson and Great Bend/Brit Spaugh Zoo.
