The zoo's centenary was celebrated with assorted bunting and frolics on 1st July. This an interesting display. I will try to get more photos of individual exhibits soon, but I didn't have the right lens in my bag on this visit.
@gentle lemur I think the Education & graphics team have done a really good job, to the point where I made a formal suggestion to print the boards into book form.
Also, it was a short turnaround to get this done straight after the area being used as a bird quarantine area for flamingo & other birds during AF restrictions. Well done all round in context.
It also highlights, sadly, the variety of species the zoo once had, ironically!
Yes I did go back this week, with the right lens, to make a record of the boards, which was rather tricky as they are almost all curved. Unfortunately when I got home I realised that I had missed one, of course it was the one which I particularly wanted to post here, about the life of Herbert Whitley. I will have to return again soon. I think I may post them all on my Facebook page.
After some delay, here is the curved panel which describes the early life of Herbert Whitley, the zoo's founder. I think the text is visible if you view the image at full size.
