The Belo Horizonte zoo's aquarium holds around 50 species of mostly native fish to the São Francisco river basin, and one species of kilifish from the lakes of Rio de Janeiro, for conservation purposes. The complete and updated list is always changing, and the direction of the aquarium keeps us from the institution's environmental education department aware of such from time to time.
