What are the highlights of the tropics building these days? Do they still have a leaf-cutter ant colony?

As of July 2010, they do. But it might be better if uszoo answers that to make sure it's up to date. The zoo does have a Kagu in Tropic Zone.

- scarlet ibis
- fairy bluebird
- keel billed toucan
- sunbittern
- pied avocat
- golden weaver
- Nicobar piegeon
- victoria crowned piegeon
- white fronted amazon
- And many other species!

Other Animals (held separately)
- black and white ruffed lemur
- golden headed lion tamarin
- cotton top tamiran
- mouse deer (in with birds)
- burmese mountain tortoise
- rodrigues fruit bat (in with birds)
- dwarf caiman
- short tailed fruit bat
- emrald tree boa
- blood python
- Giant madagascar day gecko

@uszoo: thanks for providing the list, and were there banded mongooses at one point in recent years? Coatis?

Do they still have the coatis, mongooses and green tree monitors?

In case anyone is confused, the Banded Mongoose are in a separate enclosure in this buidling while the coatis are held in one just outside. I believe the Southern Tamandua has left, by the way.

@uszoo, did you see the Kagu during your visit? Or the Sri Lankan Junglefowl? I missed both on my visit.
