This is a great photo! The lush foliage is a nice contrast to the metal poles. Auckland Zoo certainly has improved a lot in the past 11 years, with the addition of Te Wao Nui and the overhaul of the Asian zone. The newly designed zoo map calls 4 of its areas "tracks", which is an interesting word choice. It's similar to the word "precinct", which is used by Aussie zoos and not by many other zoos worldwide.
@snowleopard Thank you! I was really lucky to see Charlie crossing the Central Lake. I’ve been several times since this precinct opened and the best I’ve seen is Melur (the female and then heavily pregnant) inside the climbing pod in the middle of the lake. It was a hot summer day and she wasn’t going anywhere.
It’s funny, until you pointed that out I hadn’t even noticed the others (besides the Jungle Track) were referred to as tracks. I call them precincts (as does everyone else in the Australasian forum).
