Chlidonias

Chatham Islands Rail (Cabalus modestus), Otago Museum

The Chatham Islands Rail was first recorded in 1872 and had become extinct before 1900. It is clearly derived from a Gallirallus, although more generally separated into its own genus Cabalus.
