Chestnut-eared finch (Taeniopygia guttata castanotis)

Jungle Trail/Regenwaldhalle
And the specific subspecies that you know widely as "Zebra finch" and see everywhere in pet shops and allies. The other subspecies, the nominate one, is much rarer in aviculture.

@Kakapo I'm just used to that the domesticated ones are often called domestic zebra finches or just zebra finches, and that the "non-domesticated" wild stock of castanotis often is called chestnut-eared finches, or Australian zebra finches. Like mallards and domestic ducks basically - but you are totally correct with what you are saying anyhow :D
