@Kakapo I'm just used to that the domesticated ones are often called domestic zebra finches or just zebra finches, and that the "non-domesticated" wild stock of castanotis often is called chestnut-eared finches, or Australian zebra finches. Like mallards and domestic ducks basically - but you are totally correct with what you are saying anyhow
