Nice species! Vogelcommando, do you know why Walsrode keeps so many species behind the scenes that seldomly are shown on display? I know they currently have vanga's, malkoha's, they are only kept behind the scenes.. Unfortanetly
In the 80-ties, when I worked there, many species were kept behind the scenes in breeding-aviaries, single birds for which no partner was avaible also and a lot of species as a kind of back-up for when something happened with birds on show.
Just found another old notebook from the time I started to work at Walsrode ( 1986 ) and inhere I found the exact date when the pair of Wattle-eyes arrived : Sept. 16 1986 with the remark that these were the first of their species brought alive to West Germany and the price Walsrode paid for them was German marks 600 ( which would make about Euro 300 ) for the pair.
